Understanding Nature-Derived Skincare Products from theSkinTopic

Remember I blog about the Tebe soap not long ago? I went back to theSkinTopic, which is a skincare company that imports New Zealand-made beauty and lifestyle products. The selection of products in theSkinTopic are all natural, contains no harmful ingredients, parabens, artificial colors or preservatives and the products are not tested against animals.

The brands that theSkinTopic brings are:

1. Olive & Tebe
2. Linden Leaves
3. Wild Ferns

The SA at theSkinTopic are quite helpful. She took the trouble to explain to me the differences between "natural ingredients" and "organic ingredients" product. All these while I thought the two terms are used interchangably. However, "natural ingredients" products means the main ingredients are made of nature-derived products. On the other hand, products that coined the term "organic" must be certified by a certain authority and go through a few procedures before the product is stamped as made of "organic ingredients".

Because theSkinTopic has so many brands under their roof, it is quite confusing to choose the products that you'll like. I will break them down brand by brand so that you'll understand the brands better.

1. Olive & Tebe

Initially I thought Olive & Tebe are different brands, but they're actually come from the same brand. Olive & Tebe main ingredient is olive. Olive aand their related products have been used as skin treatment for more than 4,000 years, used first by ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean cultures to treat a variety of health conditions as well as for food and for beauty. branka Simunovich (founder) actually plant her own olive trees in her estate in New Zealand and created the traditional skincare recipe that she learned from her grandmother. Combining the most advanced equipment in New Zealand with technical expertise from a range of specialists, they have been able to reformulate grandmother's original recipes and create skin care products that are good for your skin. They have formulated gentle, effective, natural formulations inspired by their original family recipes that refresh, cleanse and hydrate for a youthful, revitalised look.

Olive products are made of extra virgin olive oil. The main purpose is to provide for a hydrated and conditioned skin.

Meanwhile, Tebe is made of olive extract, rich in Oleuropein, a natural antioxidant beneficial to your skin.

2. Linden Leaves

I think Linden Leaves need very little introduction because this brand is quite well known internationally. With pure ingrediients and exacting attention detail, Linden Leaves combines nature and science to create balanced skin care, designed to nourish the skin and nurture the soil. Drawing on the benefits of essential oils, plant derived exfoliants, natural moisturisers and unique New Zealand heritage, Linden Leaves offers the customer a spirited range of bodycare products with unisex fruit and plant derived fragrances to care for the skin and delight the soul.

3. Wild Ferns

There are three lines under the Wild Ferns umbrella, namely Lanolin, Manuka Honey and Kiwifruit. As the names of the lines suggested, they're made of lanolin, manuka honey and kiwi fruits.

Lanolin has long been renowned for its extremely beneficial moisturising and nourishing properties and therefore is ideal as a key ingredient in a skincare range. Lanolin is readily absorbed into the skin making it look and feel younger and softer, whilst improving the suppleness and elasticity associated with healthy, youthful skin. Proof of this is in the hands of the shearers and wool workers around the world. They are known for having particularly soft and supple hands that retain their youthful look due to their constant handling of Lanolin rich sheeps's wool. Like hair, wool grows back again and again therefore makin lanolin a completely renewable resource.

Uniquely to New Zealand Active Manuka AAH (Antibacterial Antioxidant Honey) 650+ had remarkable properties. High in antioxidants which neutralise free radicals and the highest natural antibacterial activity reading of 650+, this an especially beneficial hney to assist in the health and enhancement of your skin. Only Manuka Honey with the active AAH sumbol has been quality assured and rigorously tested with proven scientific methods that certifies its superior levels of antioxidants and antibacterial activity.

New Zealand is the home of the world's finest Kiwifruit. Not only are Kiwifruit attractive in appearance, they are naturally high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and Omega 3, which are all beneficial for the health and enhancement of your skin. Kiwifruit are especially high in Vitamin E, which helps to regenerate the skin's cells and maintain tone and elasticity. Antioxidants properties work to protect against environmental stress, the cause of premature ageing in skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are minimised resulting in a softer younger looking complexion.

New Zealand is the land a land of nature with more than a tird of the land area is protected wilderness. Soaring mountains reach for the sky; clear, clean rivers rush for the sea; Pacific Ocean waves onto sun-scented beaches; in vast rainforests delicate, feathery fern plants grow in peace, unfurling their promise leaf by leaf.

Because I'm considering to switch all my skincare to nature-derived products, this I consider an "educational" visit to theSkinTopic. There are so many things that I learn... it is not just as simple as finding a chemical-free products for your skin, I learn about being environmentally responsible too. Products that are flushed down into the drainage system will not harm mother nature.

If you're on the same boat as me; to change your skincare to natural products; drop by theSkinTopic and learn more about it.

What about origins and juice beauty? Are they good as well? Which brand do you prefer?

Never tried Origins before. But Juice Beauty is not that bad. I tried the moisturizer and facial wash before. Quite nice.
