Foundation So Soft Like Cushion: The Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion

First of all, I find the product name really weird. It is called "Any Cushion". Well, the name "cushion" does fit well with it's soft airy texture, but "any"? It makes me wonder why they came up with that name.

Let's not dwell with the product name too much because it really doesn't matter what they call it, as long as the product works. The Any Cushion is Etude House's new star product. It is a water-base foundation made from precious mineral. There are so many things to talk about this product that I don't know where to start. It would be so much easier for me to break it into sections (the benefits, the texture and the application) so I don't repeat myself.

The Benefits:
The Any Cushion foundation is a 6-in-1 multitasking product that feature high UVA protection of SPF50+ and UVB protection of PA+++. It is the very first foundation (I believe) that comes with sebum powder to reduce blockage in your pores while improving pore size. It also has whitening essence. Well, it is not the bleach white kind of effect, but the whitening essence helps improve uneven skintone and gives your skin a glow finishing. Lastly, it has very high level of moisture to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. The moisture essence is sufficient enough for you to skip putting moisturizer underneath. You can treat this as the all-in-one product for your face. Unlike other foundation that comes in cake or liquid form, the Air Cushion comes soaked in a marine sponge. The sponge keeps the moisture level of the foundation. It also promote the "cell trap" technique where all the ingredients are evenly distributed. You won't see the segregation of fluid and the foundation base like those in liquid form.

The Texture:

What I love the most about this product is the texture. I think of all the foundation I've ever tried this has the lightest texture. On the product, it looks creamy and thick. It feels wet-ish when first applied on the skin, then the moisture slowly absorbs into your skin, give that about 5 seconds and then it turns into a matte finish foundation. I wouldn't say it is 100% matte. It is not like that kind of matte with loose powder. It is somewhat in between BB Cream silky texture and the matte finish texture. I hope I make sense because the texture is something which I can't find words to explain. You should go down to Etude House boutique to try it yourself.

The Application:

I've tried applying the Air Cushion with my bare fingers and the air puff that they provided, I think it is best to use the air puff as suggested. The texture of the air puff is slightly different from other air puff as it has really smooth pillow-like texture. Other air puff are made of regular sponge, but this is not. You just need to pat the foundation with the air puff and directly pat it onto your skin. Repeat until the foundation is evenly covered your face. I guess that is pretty much self-explanatory. As I mentioned earlier, there is a cooling sensation when you apply it onto your skin.

Pros:

1. Has wide range of skin care benefits, including sunscreen protection, moisturizing, whitening and pore improvement.
2. Easy to apply. Works like any other foundation.
3. The air puff works really well with the texture of the foundation.
4. Long lasting. I tried putting this on my trip back to Penang and it stays fresh on my face all day long. There's no need to retouch.
5. High moisturizing level so you don't need to apply moisturizer underneath.
6. It gives that natural glowing finish without making you look like your face spread with oil.
7. Matte texture. You don't need to waste your time/money to dust loose powder to get the matte texture.

Cons:

1. Coverage is between light to medium. If you have acne scars, dark spots, etc., you will have to cover it up with concealer before putting the Any Cushion on. But I see this as a personal preference. If you like light-medium coverage foundation, it might be a plus point for you.
2. The gliding texture of the foundation makes it hard to work underneath eye makeup. Remember to put on your eye makeup first before you put on the Air Cushion to avoid streaks. If you put the foundation on before you work on your eye makeup, you might need to touch up.
3. I don't like the plastic-ky packaging. Etude House has always been a brand that features fantastic packaging, but this time I'm a bit disappointed. There's a lack of x-factor with the ordinary pink plastic container.
4. Only comes in 2 shades - natural beige and honey beige. If you're of the darker tanned skin tone, this might not work on you.

A lot of people compare this product with the Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion. I haven't tried the Laneige one though, so I can't do the comparison. But overall, they're both different products. The Laneige one is purely BB Cream, meanwhile this one is a mineral water-base foundation. It depends whether you favor BB Cream more or foundation more. Personally, I'm a foundation type of girl.

I really love this foundation and it is going to replace my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for awhile. It is so easy to use and I love the hydrated feel on my skin whenever I apply this. My skin works well with it, so I am going to stick to it for awhile.

The Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion will be available at all Etude House stores in Malaysia this coming September. The price is RM109.90.

I really want to try this! But you're right about the packaging. It looks kinda cheap, which we are not used to from Etude House. Thank you for the review!

Seems like Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion. I know that it is BB Cream but its coverage is better than this. Just saying.
