[Review] Shu Uemura The Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation

I've been wanting to let you girls know about the new Shu Uemura The Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation. But I had a bit of a difficulties to blog because there are so many things that I want to talk about and I don't know where to start, I don't know how to structure it so the information don't look messy. This is no ordinary compact foundation. It is one-of-a-kind.

What it is:
the lightbulb UV compact foundation, formulated with the lightbulb™ oleo-technology and the lightbulb™ pearl, together with an original double-sided polishing sponge created with 20 years of know-how, empowers you to polish up your glow for a flawless complexion without powdery look.
  • -natural glow yet high coverage
  • -one film smooth finish without powdery appearance
  • -SPF 30, PA+++

Comes in 16 different shades. For more information of the craftsmanship of the sponge, technology behind the making of the foundation, please visit the official product page <<here>>

Texture:
It is a compact form of foundation. Lightweight. Non-greasy. Leaves a soft and silky feeling when applied on the face.

Coverage:
It has a light to medium coverage. But leaning more towards light coverage.

The Sponge:
The uniqueness of this compact is the sponge. It has two sides - Side A for application, and Side B for polishing. This sponge is made especially for this compact. Although you can use other applicator such as face brush to apply your compact, it won't give that glowy look that this compact promises.

Application:
You can use this compact as how you ordinarily apply your compact foundation. However, to achieve that glowy finish, you need to polish the part of your face where you usually put on your highlighter.

Pros:
1. You know how compact powder tend to make your face flat? It doesn't happen with this one. The polishing step will make your face a little bit 3D. You can also skip highlighter.
2. It is non-cakey. Last about 4 hours before you need to touch up.
3. It has wide range of shades that suit any skin color.

Cons:

1. This is only available in Asia (I think).
2. Sometimes I find the polishing step a bit tedious.
3. It doesn't conceal major skin problem like dark pigmentation, acne scar, etc. You need to apply concealer underneath for a flawless look.

Do you see how my forehead, nose bridge and cheekbones are lighter than the rest of my face? That's the beauty of the polishing step of this compact.

The Lightbulb UV Compact Foundation is now available at Shu Uemura counter. Price RM180, and refill RM145.

The foundation looks lovely on you! May I know what is your skin type? 4 hours for a touch up is quite frequent eh? I tried the liquid version before and it turned oily too quickly on me!

@Gisele C: I have combination skin. My T-zone gets oily fast.

Would you say it's the same shade as the liquid light bulb foundation? I use medium light beige for the liquid and was considering to order this online. Thanks!

Thank you!
