[Review] Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set

Brand: My Scheming
Product name: Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set
Available at: Hermo/ Sasa
Price: RM28.90 / RM35.00

This is a DIY blackhead removal kit. It has a 3-steps solution, from deep pore sebum softener, blackhead removal activated carbon mask and lastly, skin clarifying pore treatment essence. I got so excited over this product after I saw a lot of reviews on Youtube. The videos showing how blackheads can be removed easily.

Step 1: After facial cleansing, apply appropriate amount with gentle massage to desired skin are. Wait till acne on skin being softened before applying solution 2.

Step 2: Apply appropriate amount on skin area using solution 1 earlier to create a thick layer on mask covering skin and pores entirely. Wait for 15-20 minutes till it becomes dry and then tear off the layer gently from face.

Step 3: After using a facial mask, apply appropriate amount of product on face with gentle pats to effectively minimize skin pores for a healthier looking skin.

Be warned that the packaging is in Chinese. If you don't read Chinese, it isn't a big issue. The photos are self-explanatory.

Normally in my reviews, I would sit on the fence because there's pros and cons to the products. If it doesn't work on me, it might work on someone else. However, I would like to stress that this isn't a product that sits on the fence. It is a big disappointment! Let me tell you why in bullet points:

  • The mask is gooey. It doesn't stick  to the face easily. It made a mess on my fingers and also on my face where I apply. The thing has a mind of its own. It is so hard to control the black carbon mask.
  • The mask takes forever to dry. The thicker you put, the longer it takes to dry. But if you put too little, the mask is not strong enough to pull out the blackheads. To balance the thickness of the mask is really troublesome due to the gooey texture.
  • If it doesn't try completely and you accidentally peel it off, it is a nightmare! It creates mess everywhere! Urgh... I can't even continue showing a photo on this due to the urgency to clean up my face. But I guess you know what I mean.
  • If it dries completely and you are peeling it off, it hurts like hell. If you have broken skin, it even tear off your skin!
  • After all the hassle, you might think that it will remove your blackheads. But it won't! Some blackheads are hanging partially. And it can't even reach those deep inside. There are a few strands on the bridge of the nose are successfully pulled out.

Skip all these hassles and go for Biore Pore Strips instead. It is easier to apply, cheap and save a lot of time and effort with maximum efficacy. I can't think of anything good to promote this product but at the same time I don't hate it as well. It is up to you to try it because on the Youtube video reviews that I saw, it works on other people.

If you've tried this before, I really want to know what are your thoughts on this. Is it working for you? Or am I experiencing user problem here?
