Philips VisaCare Microdermabrasion - Is it good?

You may have seen this facial device somewhere but do you know what it does? Contrary to popular belief, THIS IS NOT A CLEANSING BRUSH. Unlike other facial cleansing devices, the Philips VisaCare Microdermabrasion is a targeted treatment tool.

Equipped with the microdermabrasion technology commonly used in professional beauty salons, this device invigorates and maintains the skin's natural youthful look. The DualAction Air Lift and Exfoliation system encourages blood circulation, while removing dead skin cells. This stimulatesthe natural cell renewal process, resulting in younger-looking skin in just four to six weeks. Suitable for all skin types, the device can be used for five minutes twice a week for smoother, firmer and more radiant skin.

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical and non-invasive procedure that removes the outermost layer of dead and dry skin cells, and revealing younger and fresh layer of new skin.

The box comes with the device, manual guide, a charger portal, a replacement head, device cleaning brush, and a carry on pouch for storage.

How to use:

After cleansing your face at night, wipe dry and use the device by running the nozzle on your skin. Use it for 3-5 minutes and twice a week.

Additional tips:

  1. The treatment is suitable to use at night because of the peeling effect that may harm the skin if exposed directly to the sun.
  2. After treatment, put on facial mask or serum to let the products soak in. Your skin will be more effective in absorbing all the skincare goodness because the dead skin cells on the surface are removed through the microdermabrasion process.
  3. If you have done any chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment in the saloon, do not use the device for a week. The device is as effective as salon grade. It is best to leave your skin to cure in between few days before you go for another treatment.
  4. When first starting to use the device, use the "Sensitive" head first. After a month, you can switch to the normal head. Use sparsely in the beginning. When your skin gets used to it, you can use it regularly twice a day.
  5. You may experience break out when first using the device. This is due to the impurities recur on the surface of the skin.

  1. The device helps to remove dead skin cells and dried skin cells on the surface of your skin.
  2. The suction and gentle pulling motion promotes blood circulation. This will slow down aging process and slow down the appearance of fine lines.
  3. The suction also massage your skin and enhance elasticity. Consistent usage of the device will make your skin firmer.
  4. If you have scars or pigmentation, the microdermabrasion treatment will reduce the scars gradually. I have very deep pores and it is slowly lighten now after two weeks.

The rose gold tone makes this device looks luxurious. It looks really pretty on the vanity when you're not using it. One full charge will last about one month usage. It is travel-friendly as well. I can't think of any bad thing about this device, except the price. At RM1,499 retail price, it can be expensive. However, the price is a subjective matter. If you frequently go for chemical peeling or professional microdermasion treatment, this device can save you a lot of money.

Personally I really enjoy the treatment. It doesn't feel painful at all, in fact it feels like a massage device. Initially, I had bad breakouts from using the device because the suction retrieves all the impurities that buried deep inside my pores. When it appears on the top layer of the skin, the skin breaks out. It lasted for one week only and after that fresh skin is revealed. Right now I am enjoying the smooth skin and some of my old acne and chicken pox scars are slowly disappearing.

I suggest you go to the nearest Philips counter to check out the device. Try it yourself to see if you will like it.
