Etude House New Sweet Recipe Collection Haul

[Pic-heavy post!]

Today Etude House launched their Spring 2013 collection inspired by The Brothers Grimm Classic Fairy Tale Hansel & Gretel expressing mouthwatering dessert designed packages called Sweet Recipe Collection. I have some stash here to share with you all. I'm sure you'll be enchanted with the cuteness of the packaging...

The Cotton Candy Ball (RM16.90) is a 100% natural nail remover cotton that gently absorbs and is easily used by tearing off desired amount of pieces.

Apparently these multi-colored cotton puffs can remove nail colors that are difficult to clean off. As a huge fan of nail polish, I hope these tool can deliver what it says. That would make my nail painting process a lot easier.

Next is the Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Color (RM41.90). Comes in 5 colors and the one I have is called Blueberry Cheese Cake.

This is a cream-based multi-use product. You can use it as a blusher or lipstain.

Blueberry Cheesecake is a true pink shade. It really reminds me of Barbie pink. I think it suits fair skin a lot but I can't be sure. Really can't wait to try this out soon.

One of my favorite from the stash is the Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base SPF25/PA++ (RM69.90). It is a light and fluffy choux cream-like makeup base that creates baby choux skin with its moist inside and soft smoothness on the outside.

It comes in three correcting shades - peach to even out skin tone, pink to even skin tone and create that glowing effect and mint to cover broken capillaries and redness. The one I have is in mint.

Sweet Recipe Dear My Jelly Lips-talk (RM59.90) is a vibrant, sheer and shinny jelly textured lipstick. On the tube it appears to be transparent jelly-like but once swatched on the skin it turns into sweet pink. The color is long-lasting and stays moisturised all day long.

Lastly, this is my most favorite thing of the entire collection.................... the Sweet Recipe Ice Cream Nails (RM25.90) in mint color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are 4 colors available - pink, yellow, orange and mint. I think the mint one is the prettiest among all the colors, or maybe I'm just biased because I love mint/turquoise a lot. I will save the swatch for my Monday Mani, so come back on Monday if you want to see how the color turns up on my nails.

This full line makeup collection was launched earlier today by Etude House at Marmalade Cafe, Bangsar. The cafe was decorated in sweet candy/dessert theme, and they're so adorable.

Once I arrived, the first thing I did was to take a stroll along the table that exhibits all the new makeups. Let me show you those awesome stuff they on display today.... I really can't resist them all...

After browsing through, I was making mental note "Jerine, remember to buy that mint nail polish. Remember to buy that mint nail polish. Remember to buy that mint nail polish." I couldn't wait for the event to end and rush to the nearest Etude House to get it. I even Googled if there's any Etude House store at Bangsar.

The goodie bags that lined up for the medias:

It turned up, I HAVE THE MINT NAIL POLISH IN MY GOODIE BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt like the luckiest girt alive!

Daiso Beauty Haul - What Worth to Buy this Month

Confession... I really love Daiso!!!!!!!!!!! I can spend hours there. Because of that, I give everyone an impression how "aunty" I am. I can't help it. Things there are so cheap!!! RM5 for anything! And when I browse through each corner, I will definitely find something which I never thought I needed.

While waiting for Alicia for tea yesterday, I managed to grab all of these:

1. Good puff cotton pad

Two boxes for RM5. Cotton pads from Daiso is actually more expensive than the ones from Watson and Guardian. But I keep this for eye pad. I DIY my own tea eye pad to depuff my eyes and to get rid of my dark circles. If you want to know how to do it, do let me know, I will make a DIY post. Why I choose this cotton pad is because it is much thicker than other cotton pads and can saturate more liquid inside.

2. Fake eye lash clipper

If you're the type that find it hard to put on fake lashes, this tool is so helpful! The eyelashes that I bought from Taiwan are so soft. And the backbone is made of string. It's so freaking hard to put it on with normal tweezer. And this tool is like god-sent! Just clip, put on the lash glue and stick it to the eyelid.... kaotim!

3. Fake eyelash case

I don't think I need this but I bought it out of the uber cuteness. I can't resist the pink case and the black bow. Anyway, I applied my motto "buy first think later" and got it. If I don't use it to store my eyelash, I can still put other stuff in it or maybe I can do a gift away.

4. Sauce dish

I bought the sauce dish not to put sauces on, but to put my soap. I find those soap cases are so fugly! You know, like those plastic ones with the cover. Yucks! So freaking ugly! I cannot find a simple and nice soap dish, so have to improvise by using sauce dish...

5. Socks

I always buy socks from Daiso for my running. Some people will go to Nike or Adidas to get a pair of socks that cost RM20+. And I think the RM5 Daiso socks work just fine.

6. Cleansing pad

I know I just bought it few weeks ago. Now I found another use for this cleansing pad, so I have to get another one. Will surprise you guys with a post on it. You will never thought what other stuff this simple cleansing pad can do.

I didn't know my entire haul is in pink. Hahahaha.... Just realized it when I'm writing this post. Another Daiso fan here??? Let me know what's good to buy this month...

Monday Mani: Juicy Cocktail Gradient Nails in Mint Frappe by Etude House

I've always admire all those gradient nails (also known as ombre nails) manicure on Pinterest. They look so easy to do but actually very hard to achieve that gradient effect. First, you need to get similar colors in three different shades. Then you have to make sure the texture is sheer so that they overlap each other and create shade inclination. If you get opaque texture nail polish, you won't get that natural shade descending.

The tedious process is really not for lazy girls like me. To those of you who love gradient nails and also looking for short cut, you can get the Etude House Juicy Cocktail.

It comes in 6 colors - pink, orange, gray, turquoise, purple and champagne. I only got the champagne, purple and turquoise. I don't like orange color, the pink one is too sheer for my liking and the gray one is not so outstanding.

Anyway, today I want to show you guys the turquoise one first. They call it the Mint Frappe.

The process is pretty easy. Just paint the lightest color and layer it with the darker shade by leaving one quarter of the lighter shade at the bottom.

I wanted to do a step-by-step photo guide for you guys. But I ruin my polish while was taking photo, so I thought fuck it... I'll just show you guys the end result. Maybe I'll do the step-by-step one when I review the other colors.

There are some important tips you will need to get the best result.

1. Paint a layer of nude color underneath before you start with this kit. I painted the OPI Bubble Bath underneath. It works as a base color and brings out the contrast of the gradient better.

2. When you get to Step 2, you might need to paint it two layers. I think it's too sheer and it might not show the gradient well enough. But two coats of the Step 2 will definitely bring out the colour. Will show you guys what I mean when I do a step-by-step one.

3. On Step 3, you might want to turn off your fan or AC before painting your nail. The glitter base is very sticky and gooey. I'm afraid it might dry up before you even put the glitter on to your nails. It is a bit of a work trying to fish out the glitters. They're quite sparse.

The Juicy Cocktail Gradient Nails kit cost RM36.90. You can find it in all Etude House store. They do sell each color separately in full size. If I'm not mistaken each bottle cost RM19.90.
