Hong Kong Mini Haul & Not-so-useful Shopping Tips

Hallo... I'm back from HK now. Yup! I know that's a quick trip. I was there for only 24 hours, or less. It wasn't a planned trip, in fact I bought the ticket few hours before I fly. After the Bangkok trip, I was freaking tired to the point I thought I was going to collapse anytime soon. But I had to go to HK because the mister is leaving for Germany for a few weeks. If I don't go over, we will only get to see each other after CNY. I feel like I'm in a long distance relationship. But what to do... he has to work. The more hardworking he is, the better our future is right? So I cannot complain.

I arrived with zero money because I didn't have time to change it. It was the most insecure feeling ever. I wanted to take the train but I couldn't find my MTR card. I started to panic. And all I could do is to hop on to a taxi, at least I can ask the mister to pay for it when I reach the hotel. I started to dig my purse and I didn't know what I was looking for. It was a panic attack. And then miracle happened.............. I found HKD500 in purse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then another panic attack swarm right in....... will the taxi meter reach above HKD500? Anyway, I went through that horrifying moment and glad it's over.

With less than 24 hours there, I didn't have time to shop much (and I also had no money to buy anything). But the mister bought for me this.........

Burberry Blue Label Winter 2012/2013 full leather bag. I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a big fan of Burberry Blue Label bags because it's a bit hard to find. Burberry Blue Label is only available in Japan and Hong Kong. If you're there, go and get one, and you won't find anyone with the same bag as you.

Actually there weren't any bag that really caught my eye. I was thinking not to get anything. This bag is the best among all that they have, but not really the one that I would die for. So, of all the bags I tried on this one. The mister prolonged my thinking cos he tried on some jackets. He bought a trench coat and a hoodie from the Black Label. He must be thinking that I really like the bag because he kept saying, "If you want take lah".

Anyway, I love the bag so much now because it's so spacious! And it feels really solid and durable. I'm going to make this my everyday bag. It also comes with a useful-but-not-so-useful pad lock for the zipper...

When I found out the price I feel so guilty. It's HKD10,000 which is the most expensive Blue Label bag. Normally Burberry Blue Label bags are around HKD6,000 only. Judging from the quality, I think it's worth it. He's already paying for my flight ticket and now this. I don't normally spend that much, but I'm still very happy. Happy and guilty.

Oh ya... some unrelated stuff to tell you girls. When the mister paid for the stuff, I notice that he's using the wallet I bought for him. Here's a gift tips for girls out there in relationship. Buying wallet for your other half is not just a simple gesture as buying wallet per se. It's a very effective way to control your man. Hahahahaha... That way, it is unlikely that he will spend on other girls. Even if he does, when he takes out his wallet, it will remind him of your presence and send some guilt to his head. If you want more gift tips for your man, ask me. I'm so good at this! I never have a problem buying gifts for the mister and each gift comes with added value to the relationship. LOLOLOLOL!!!!

I really recommend you to get Burberry Blue Label if you ever travel to HK or Japan, because:

1. You cannot get it anywhere else. It makes you feel exclusive. And more importantly, hardly anyone in Malaysia will have the same bag as you.
2. As compared to the mainstream Burberry, there are a lot of imitation out there. What's the point of getting a Burberry bag that everyone on the street can afford?
3. It's really durable. I bought one 3 years ago and been using it as my everyday bag. It's still in perfect condition. Since I'm a heavy user and super rough (I even broke a Chanel bag chain before), I'm surprised it's still in good condition.

Burberry Blue Label is at Fashion Walk, near Sogo Causeway Bay. If you can't find it then just walk into Burberry in Sogo and ask them for direction. It's within walking distance.

Damn.... Burberry Blue Label should be paying me for all these testimonials.

Next, is something which I really love!!! Tinkerbell necklace from Disneyland...

The souvenir shops in Disneyland sell almost the same thing everywhere. But there's a shop that sells fine products, I can't remember the name of the shop, but it's on the Main Street, two doors away from Corner Cafe. It is the only shop that I will buy my souvenir from because they actually use real Swarovski crystal for their souvenir.

When I was in the airport, I met up with my friend, Nicole. She gave me some confectionery from Kee Wah Bakery. It is a famous bakery in HK. She got me their famous Butter Eggrolls and Mini Walnut Cookies.

I wanted to buy their Mango Cake, Sak Kei Mah and Pork Thins at the airport. Unfortunately I almost miss my flight. The next time I MUST buy. It's so good you can die after you eat it! Maybe I'm exaggerating but it's all worth the exaggeration.

Lastly, my staple from the airport.... The DOM...

DOM is the healthy way to get drunk. This has became my drugs before my exam and I've been addicted to it. It's a good addiction actually. I don't actually addicted to taking it but it really gives me energy that I need. If I don't take this, I'll feel sleepy and tired the next day. You should try it (non-halal by the way) if you want to be more alert at work. And it is especially effective to replenish nutrients for mom during confinement period.

That's all for my haul this time. I know that's very little compared to all my travel shoppings.

If you want a FREE TRIP TO HONG KONG, don't forget to check out my blog post <<here>>. The entire HK is tax free, so branded goods are much cheaper in HK. And don't be surprised if you can't find tax return counter in the airport. And if you go to their duty free shop in Tsim Sha Tsui, they pack the full size beauty products with some deluxe sample free gifts.

Remember to join the free HK trip contest ya! Only few people join it, there's a high chance you might win the trip. And let me know if you win, OK?

Bangkok Haul & Shopping Tips

Hello everyone!!! I'm waiting for my flight to Hong Kong now. Traveling alone kinda sucks, so I'm going to kill sometime by blogging.

Here are some stuff I bought from Bangkok and some shopping tips for you, if you're going there anytime soon. I think Bangkok is really a great place to shop (even better than Singapore). The people there are friendly, despite the language barrier. The VAT refund is quite good. And there are plenty of choices!!!

The main place to shop is of course at Siam, it's like our Bukit Bintang. You have Paragon, Siam Square, Siam Central, Platinum Mall, Siam Discovery, Gaysorn Mall all within walking distance and they're all connected by the sky bridge.

The first thing that I bought was from NARS counter at Paragon. I wanted to get the Beach Lover makeup set, unfortunately they don't have it. In the end, I only got the matte foundation and orgams blush. Can wait to try out the matte foundation. It is much cheaper to buy NARS in Taiwan than in Thailand.

To those of you who asked me to get the NARS stuff, I'm sending it on Monday. So you should be getting it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Still in Paragon, my favorite place to shop is the Gourmet Market. You can find international food here (the price also quite international). The fruits are freaking expensive.... 10 Korean strawberries for RM170. Yeah... I'm not kidding. But they're humongous and really sweet! Of course I didn't buy any of the fruits. But I bought a lot of dry food.

PaMa prawn tom yum instant noodles. These are my favorite!!!!! I got it for about RM5 a pack which has 10 packets of noodles inside.

Blueberry Pocky!!!! Shikin told me she bought this in Japan and they're really good. Since I can find it here, I can't resist to wallop all of them from the shelve.

You can tell, I really love Pocky. These are not your normal strawberry Pocky. It has chunky strawberry on the stick!!!

Ham & Cheese Pretz!!! I've never eaten this before. And OMG! They really taste like ham and cheese! If you can get this anywhere, do try it!!! Although a bit salty but it's really very good.

At the Gourmet Market, they have a small section that sells aroma therapy stuff like essential oils, bath products and spa products. I bought this pillow for Michelle.... It smells like lemongrass. If you smell it, it is damn good, but after you place it in the bag, it can be really overpowering. Heat this up and place it on your shoulder, head, stomach, or anywhere for quick spa treatment.

I also bought a lot of toothbrush from the Gourmet Market. I know it's so random. But it's so cheap!!!! In Malaysia, the toothbrush I'm using cost RM13+ each. But they're selling about RM9 for two!!! Which means I save RM30 for these....

I can even buy Air Asia Promo ticket to Bangkok with that money I saved!!!

Outside the Gourmet Market, there's a Mandarin Oriental cafe. The food are 100% from Mandarin Oriental. When passed by, I couldn't resist the macarons... If you happen to pass by, remember to get the coffee crunch and salty chocolate and vanilla. These are the bestest macarons I've ever tasted! And they're cheap too! 6 pieces for 270baht (RM27).

From Paragon, I walk to Platinum Mall and passed by Naraya. It's a MUST stop. I didn't find anything interesting but manage to get a cosmetic pouch for my housemate and a standing pocket mirror. Will show you all the mirror next time. I forgot to take photo.

At Platinum Mall, I was spoiled with choices. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything except 3 belts. The clothes there are cheap. But the shoes and bags are so freaking expensive. You probably can get the same thing and same price from Sungei Wang Hong Kong Station. Some of the clothes are self-designed and some are obviously imported from China. The sales girls are very reluctant to give offer price. And bargaining is not really good enough, they will just let you walk away. The only main trick to get cheap price is by buying in bulk. So, go to Platinum Mall with your friends and pay together. Anyway, I got these belt at 120baht each (RM12).

The most priced possession I've bought is the France 2004 limited edition Valentine's Day stamp from Chanel. It's a collectible item and cannot be found easily. It's so freaking expensive, but I know it's worth it.

There's also Boots drugstore everywhere in Bangkok! If you have Boots member card, do bring along for your trip. If you don't have one, sign up for one at the counter and you will receive your card immediately. The card comes with 5% privilege storewide and a booklet of vouchers. The card also serve as point collection. Once you spend a certain amount, you can get rebate for your next purchase. So what I got from Boots?

Soap & Glory!!!

I got The Scrub of Your Life. This is really the best scrub from Soap & Glory. Try it if you haven't. And Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss. Soap & Glory at Boots are so cheap! Some store even have Buy 3 Free 1 promotion. Generally, the stuff are about RM5 cheaper than what we have in Sephora.

I also got some stuff from Botanics. My friend Cailin told me that Botanics stuff are really good. Since it's plant base skincare, I really can't resist to try. I love natural ingredients skincare.

The Botanics stuff are on Buy 2 Free 1 promotion. So I bought the face scrub and day moisturizer and it comes with free face wipes. You can choose any 3 products and pay the two most expensive once.

Those are my short haul from Bangkok. A lot of things I wanted to get but couldn't. I wanted to get a Vivienne Westwood bag but I was misunderstood. I thought the Zen Mall has Vivienne Westwood boutique, unfortunately they only sell a few Vivienne Westwood shoes. I also thought I can get a Vivienne Westwood jacket for the mister for Valentine's Day. All my plan went haywired.

Hopefully I can get the Vivienne Westwood stuff from Hong Kong.

I'm giving all of you a free trip to Hong Kong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah... Just kidding!!! I wish I could...

Free trip to Hong Kong.... Sounds like a scam isn't it? Well, the good news is... It's real!!! Early last year, my Hong Kong trip was fully sponsored, free air ticket, free 5 star hotel, free fine dining two meals a day, and I could even bring a friend!!!

It was a dream come true! I was over the moon. Not only I don't have to pay a single cent for my holiday, I was treated like a VIP too. Well, I know you can't share my excitement because you weren't there with me. So, I want to share the same experience with you all by letting you all know, you can win a sponsored trip.

Free trip to Hong Kong!!!!! And you can even bring along one person with you. Want or not???

Here's what you need to do:
1. Like HK Station Facebook Page.
2. Enable the contest app following <<this link>>. You should see this page popping up:

3. Go to HK Station at Level 6 Sungei Wang, spend a minimum of RM50 (stuff there are cheap, plus you need to shop for school reopen, CNY, birthday parties, etc.) then take photos of your shopping experience there and upload on to the contest app on Facebook. Don't forget to fill up the form and complete a slogan describing Hong Kong in 5 words. I can do it in 1 word... "TVB"! Or two words, "Smelly tofu". Or three words, "Curry fish ball".

If you don't know, Sungei Wang Level 6 recently renovated into a HK Street Style concept called HK Station. When you step into HK Station, you really feel like you're in HK. The ambience and the "feel" is so real! When you take the elevator to 6th floor, you will notice that the mural are in the form of HK MTR station.

What interest me most are the fashion stores located there. They sell HK inspired clothes (non-blogshop, of course), which is so hard to find in Malaysia.

My favourite pair of edgy pants on the mannequin!

Spotted... the shop that looks like Liz Lisa!

And I'm so going to get these Lady Gaga heels...

Going for a swim, anyone?

And if you're not into shopping (like a bf who got trapped), you can always enjoy a cup of yin yong tea with egg tarts, or maybe some curry fish balls... They have plenty of cafe there that serve HK food.

Already feel like you're in HK? Well, not yet... Until you win the free trip.

The last time I check, there were less than 10 people who participated in the contest. There's a very high chance that you will win the trip. And if you don't win the trip, at least you might get some shopping vouchers too!

Contest ends 31st January. So don't wait! Faster head to HK Station FB Page to check out more info.
